v1.69: Code Map
What's New
Code Map: The Project Graph is now the Code Map — one hierarchy of domains, subsystems, components and files that you drill into by opening containers, where the distance between nodes reflects how tightly code is connected. It builds only when you ask, names and describes every node automatically, and now understands relationships in Java, Python, Go, Rust and C#.
Drive Fabric from Your Phone: Start or continue a desktop chat from your phone and watch it stream live on your desktop, complete with your prompt, the AI's actions and permission requests. A chat created on your phone opens as a live tab on the desktop.
Approve from Either Device: Permission prompts appear on your phone and desktop at once — answer on whichever is closer, and the other dismisses with a note naming the device that responded.
Live Model Catalog: Model limits, pricing and reasoning support now come straight from providers instead of a built-in table, so brand-new models show correct numbers without waiting for an app update.
Turns Survive Interruptions: A reload, crash or closed window mid-task no longer loses the record — usage, cost and how the turn ended are always captured, and long tasks are no longer cut off after a fixed number of steps.
Clearer Error Messages: Errors now name the provider, explain what went wrong in a single sentence and offer next steps with Continue, Compact and Add credit buttons instead of raw technical details.
Per-Model Custom Providers: Custom providers now work per model — when a model needs a different API style, Fabric detects it on first failure, remembers it and applies it immediately, no restart required.
Unified Activity Block: Thinking and step-by-step work now fold into one collapsible block, headed by how long the AI worked and how many actions it took.
Escape Keeps Things Moving: Pressing Escape during a long action now cancels just that action and delivers your queued message immediately, so the turn carries on instead of stopping.
One Quiet Updater: Updates now appear as a single card in the corner that walks through available → downloading → ready with release notes inline, replacing five separate dialogs and windows.
Narrow-Window Friendly: Settings and the chat view now adapt to narrow windows, tucking controls behind a menu instead of clipping or forcing a horizontal scrollbar.
Conversation Recall: The agent can now search your past conversations directly instead of guessing, and knows how many past chats a project has.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a chat becoming permanently stuck after one malformed AI response — every later message hit the same error and retrying couldn't recover.
Fixed resumed conversations on Anthropic models not replaying actions the model had already run.
Fixed stopped turns reporting zero output — the work the model had already produced and billed for is now counted and marked as an estimate.
Fixed queued messages getting stuck, which silently blocked every message you sent afterwards.
Fixed stopped background tasks re-running their commands and continuing to bill — they now stop fully, with working stop and locate controls.
Fixed thinking-step timers that kept growing across a turn and stayed inflated when a turn was stopped — each step now shows its own elapsed time.
Fixed permission prompts stalling a turn invisibly behind a collapsed section.
Built-in slash commands now update with the app instead of staying frozen at whatever shipped when you installed.
Fixed a Windows issue where one project folder saved under two spellings of the same path opened with different chats and settings after a restart.
Fixed the Source Control graph sticking to the old branch after a checkout — it now follows the branch you're on, with a new Auto option making that explicit.
Opening a project is now much faster — Fabric no longer scans the entire repository up front, which could grind through tens of thousands of files on large repos.
Fixed long terminal commands being blocked in an endless permission loop because their length was mistaken for a permission request.
Fixed long voice dictations sticking on "Transcribing" — recordings over about 45 seconds were silently cut off.
Improved phone reliability: force-quitting the phone no longer aborts the desktop's turn, failed phone turns now report why they failed and end cleanly, chats resync after the desktop relaunches, and permissions granted from your phone now persist.
Chats started from your phone or the command line now get automatic titles after their first message.
Fixed images being silently dropped when attached to custom models — the turn now retries without them and tells you when the model refuses.
Projects blocked by your team's policy now show a clear explanation instead of a generic access-denied error.
Fixed the app crashing on quit with terminals open.
Fixed a resource leak when previewing skill assets.
